Working on yourself like it’s your job – ’cause it is

Welcome to the unpaid internship of a lifetime... it's called life!

Let me ask you something: How many times have you felt like some aspect of your life is off-track and you end up in a place where you have no idea where you are or what to do next?

You think you’ve got it at least a little figured out and then bam – you end up back in a “what am I doing with my life” spiral. Been there, done that, bought the t-shirt, and I’m sure I’ll visit again soon… but right now after enough trips to that place, I’m sitting with the perspective where I realize that even when I don’t know what to do, I always know where to start – and I want to share that with you!

So for all those times you slip back into feelings of overwhelm about the trajectory of your life, let Uncle Danny give you a little guidance.

make space for miracles

If you feel stuck or directionless in any area of your life, the first step is: don’t be hard on yourself. Next, you’ve got to see if you even have the energetic capacity to let in the life that you really want and deserve. Are you too full of old drama and trauma to accommodate the goodness that’s trying to flow your way?

Sometimes we’ve got to help the Universe out – it’s just vibing there waiting to give us everything we need – but we’re holding on so tight to the life we think we’re supposed to be living that we’re actually creating a forcefield fuelled by stubborn energy; it can build up so much that it holds back all the incredible $#!% that is waiting outside the walls.

Once in a while you’ve got to get honest with yourself and see if you’re in a state of allowance or resistance and adjust accordingly – hot tip: resistance isn’t the answer.

One of my favourite analogies is from Abraham-Hicks. They talk about the idea of your “cork” — When you’re in resistance, you’re holding your cork underwater. If you let go of the cork (stop resisting) then your cork will automatically float. So let your damn cork float!

If you find yourself treading water and waiting to find the flow of the current, you’re going to get tired – and that’s okay. When you have the strength you can start swimming a little bit and make your way in any direction… even if you can’t see land, at least you’re moving.

The Universe can deliver amazing things to you, but sometimes you’ve got to check in and see if you’re actually open to receive it. If the answer to your prayers or purpose hasn’t dropped into your existence yet, it might be because you simply need to make space for it.

your job is you

Newsflash: your profession or career or day job or hobby does not define you:

You are your job. Everything else is a side-hustle.

You’re the CEO of You, Inc. And I know you’re busy and trying to navigate this crazy ride called life, but you’ve got a job to do. It’s 24/7 and it doesn’t pay (not cash money, anyway). Also, you can’t get fired and you can’t quit – but there are some serious benefits; benefits like clarity and self-discovery and self-love and excitement and joy.

Doesn’t that sound lovely? And wouldn’t it be nice if you got so good at this job that you really loved it?

If you don’t know where to start, try going inward.

The blessing and the curse is, this is a job where you are the only expert in your field. I get it, that can feel pretty overwhelming sometimes – like your manager didn’t train you properly and your company is always going out of business, but you are better equipped for this position than you know!

That’s the thing with this job – you’re the boss and the worker and you have to learn as you go –  it’s baptism by fire, baby!

Maybe you know this but you’ve been avoiding it?

And maybe you’ve been avoiding it because you’re afraid of what might be in there?

Oooo… how did that strike you? If you felt any sort of resonance reading those words, I’m gonna go out on a limb and say there might be something there to dive into.

The most important thing to remember is: you’re not alone. You might think everyone else has their $#!% together, but none of us have it all together. Otherwise there’d be no growth – and like it or not, I’m pretty sure that’s what the point of existence is. I know… it’s so annoying.

While this is a full-time job, you’re definitely allowed and encouraged to take breaks and a little vacation now and then. You don’t have to have it all figured out every minute of every day – just know that you will figure it out. It’s your job!

Since we’re all constantly expanding through every “good” and “bad” experience, we create an energy of momentum, and sometimes that can manifest in some pretty gnarly truth bombs dropping on our heads. It can be tough out there!

We all process energy and emotions in different ways and speeds. You do you. When you’re on the path of the high-vibing human, the peaks get taller and the valleys get deeper – but that don’t mean you gotta hang out down in the valley for too long.

be kind to yourself

Nothing is wrong – you are simply a human having a spiritual experience on this weird-ass planet where we’re bombarded with different opportunities, experiences and challenges that shape who we are. Sometimes we’re in good shape, and sometimes we’re in rough shape… but we’re always taking shape into something new and amazing. Dont’ stress! Feel the feels, and let that energy move through you.

Even though you can feel tired and sad and lost, remember that you’re capable of feeling energized, happy, and found.

And never forget… we’re in this together.
